Setup Wizard
Walk through the FilterIQ Setup Wizard that guides you through initial configuration.
Setup Wizard
When you first open FilterIQ after installation, the Setup Wizard appears as a modal overlay on the Filters page (/app/filters). It walks you through the essential steps to get your filters configured and live on your storefront.
Use the steps below to review the available configuration. Setup timing varies; a completed wizard still needs catalogue, theme and storefront validation.
When the Wizard Appears
The Setup Wizard launches automatically on your first visit to the Filters page. If you have not completed setup, you will see the wizard modal instead of the main filter interface.
Wizard Steps
Step 1: Filter Type Selection
The wizard asks which types of filters you want to offer your shoppers. You can select from:
- Checkbox -- Multi-select lists for attributes like vendor, product type, or tags
- Radio -- Single-select options for mutually exclusive attributes
- Dropdown -- Compact single-select menus that save vertical space
- Price Range -- Dual-handle slider for price filtering
- Color Swatch -- Visual color circles for color-based filtering
- Size -- Button-style selectors for size options
Select one or more filter types. You can always change these later.
Step 2: Attribute Discovery
FilterIQ scans your product catalog and discovers available attributes. It presents a list of attributes found in your store, including:
- Product type
- Vendor
- Tags (grouped by prefix if you use prefixed tags like
color:red) - Variant options (Size, Color, Material, etc.)
- Price range
- Custom metafields
Review the discovered attributes and confirm which ones you want to create filters for.
Step 3: Template Selection
Choose from pre-built filter templates that match your store type. Templates provide a recommended set of filters, ordering, and display settings. For example, a "Fashion" template prioritizes Color, Size, and Price filters, while an "Electronics" template emphasizes Brand, Price Range, and Specifications.
You can customize any template after applying it.
Activation Checklist
After the wizard completes, you will see an Activation Checklist on the Filters page. This is a multi-step progress indicator that tracks your setup status:
- Create filters -- At least one filter is configured
- Configure appearance -- Layout and display settings are set
- Preview filters -- You have viewed the filter preview
- Publish to storefront -- Your filter configuration is published live
Each step shows a checkmark when complete. The checklist remains visible until all steps are finished, helping you track what is left to do.
What Happens When You Complete Setup
Once you finish the wizard:
- Your selected filters are created with recommended defaults
- The filter configuration is saved as a draft (not yet live on your storefront)
- You are taken to the main Filters page where you can fine-tune each filter
- The Activation Checklist appears so you can track remaining setup tasks
- You can preview your filters before publishing
Re-Running the Wizard
If you want to start over or re-run the wizard:
- Go to Settings in the app navigation
- Under Data Management, click Reset Settings
- Confirm the reset
This clears your current filter configuration and triggers the Setup Wizard on your next visit to the Filters page.
Alternatively, you can use the AI Setup feature (available from the dashboard) to re-analyze your catalog and regenerate filter suggestions without resetting your existing configuration.
