Filter Sets & Presets

Filter sets are named groups of filters that you can manage, duplicate, and apply as a unit. Presets are ready-made filter configurations -- either built-in industry templates or your own saved configurations -- that you can apply with a single click.

What Are Filter Sets

A filter set is a complete filter configuration: the list of filters, their types, source fields, ordering, and display options. Your store always has one active store-wide filter set, and optionally one or more collection-specific filter sets (see Collection Filters).

Filter sets let you:

Organize filters into logical groups
Switch between different configurations quickly
Save configurations as reusable presets

Applying a Preset

Presets give you a head start by providing a recommended filter configuration for common store types. To apply a preset:

Go to the Filters page (/app/filters)
Click Apply Preset

Industry Templates

FilterIQ ships with preset templates for common Shopify store types:

Electronics	Brand, Price Range, Connectivity, Storage, Screen Size
Home & Garden	Category, Price Range, Color, Material, Room

Food & Beverage	Category, Dietary (Vegan, Gluten-Free), Price Range, Brand
Sports & Outdoors	Activity, Size, Price Range, Brand, Gender
Jewelry	Material, Stone, Price Range, Style, Collection

Each template includes recommended filter types, ordering, and display settings optimized for that industry.

Applying a Template

Browse the templates in the Apply Preset modal
Click on a template to see a preview of the filters it includes
Click Apply to load the template into your configuration

Important: Applying a preset replaces your current store-wide filter configuration. If you want to keep your existing setup, save it as a custom preset first.

Saving Your Own Presets

Once you have a filter configuration you are happy with, you can save it as a custom preset for future use:

Configure your filters the way you want them
Click Save as Preset
Enter a name for your preset (e.g., "Holiday Sale Layout", "Seasonal Defaults")
Click Save

Your custom presets appear alongside the built-in templates in the Apply Preset modal.

Managing Presets

You can manage your saved presets from the Filters page:

Rename a preset by clicking its name in the preset list
Delete a preset you no longer need
Update a preset by making changes to your current configuration and saving it again with the same name

Built-in industry templates cannot be deleted, but you can apply one and then customize it to create your own version.

How Presets Apply to New Stores or Collections

Presets are useful in several scenarios:

New store setup -- Apply an industry template during initial configuration to skip manual setup
New collection overrides -- When creating a collection-specific filter set, start from a preset instead of building from scratch
Seasonal changes -- Save a "Holiday" preset and a "Standard" preset, then switch between them as needed
A/B testing layouts -- Save different filter configurations as presets and switch between them to compare performance

Tips

Start with an industry template and customize it rather than building from scratch
Save your customized configuration as a preset before experimenting with changes
Use descriptive names for presets so you can identify them later
Review preset configurations periodically as your product catalog evolves
