Getting Started with FilterIQ

FilterIQ is in private preview. This guide covers access, an AI-assisted first draft and storefront validation for an accepted Shopify store.

Timing varies with catalogue size, data quality, service conditions and theme configuration. Review, testing and publication are separate steps.

What You'll Set Up

1. Search — Test product matching, typo handling and approved synonyms
2. Filters — Review candidate attributes, display types and collection coverage
3. Merchandising — Preview the products affected by presets and manual rules
4. Analytics — Check available, consented search and filter events under your plan

Prerequisites

• Accepted private-preview access and confirmed plan terms
• Products available to the intended sales channel, with attributes you can review
• The Shopify permissions needed to install apps and edit the test theme

Quick Start

Step 1: Request Access and Prepare a Test Theme

1. Request private-preview access with your catalogue and theme requirements.
2. If accepted, follow the installation path supplied by the team and review Shopify's permission and billing screens.
3. Create a duplicate theme and record the current theme, search settings and other app integrations as a rollback reference.

Open the accepted installation through Shopify admin. A duplicate theme isolates theme edits; it does not isolate store-wide app configuration. Confirm shared-setting effects before changing them.

Step 2: Run AI Setup

Use the setup controls available to your preview store to request a first draft.

1. Check sync status and the catalogue coverage available under your plan.
2. Run the available analysis and inspect any errors or missing suggestions.
3. Review the suggested configuration:
   • Search settings — which product fields to search (titles, descriptions, tags, metafields)
   • Filter configuration — which filter types to show (color swatches, size selectors, price ranges, etc.)
   • Merchandising presets — recommended presets for your store
4. Save the reviewed draft and test it using the preview workflow supplied during onboarding before publishing.

An analysis result is not a live storefront. Validate theme activation and the resulting search and filters separately.

Step 3: Verify on Your Storefront

1. Open the duplicate theme preview with the intended app embed or blocks enabled.
2. Test known products, misspellings, approved synonyms and a query with no matching product.
3. Test collection filters, empty combinations, sorting and clearing selections on desktop and mobile.
4. Record results and confirm the rollback procedure before publishing the accepted theme and configuration.

What Happens Behind the Scenes

When you install FilterIQ:

1. Product sync — We index your products via Shopify's Admin API. This includes titles, descriptions, tags, variants, images, metafields, and inventory data.
2. AI analysis — Available catalogue fields inform candidate filters and synonym suggestions. Review their sources and relevance before approval.
3. Search index — Check sync status and representative products to confirm the coverage available for search.
4. Theme integration — The Theme App Extension supplies storefront components. Validate placement, styling, loading and other app interactions on the exact theme version.
