Search Analytics

Track and analyze how shoppers use search on your store.

Search Analytics

FilterIQ tracks search behavior on your store so you can understand what shoppers want, what they can't find, and how search drives revenue.

Dashboard Overview

The analytics dashboard is available at Analytics in the app navigation. It provides:

  • Overview metrics — Total searches, search-driven revenue, conversion rate
  • Top searches — Most popular search queries
  • Zero-result searches — Queries that returned no products
  • Click-through rate — Percentage of searches that result in a product click
  • Filter usage — Which filters shoppers use most

Key Metrics

Total Searches

The total number of search queries performed on your store in the selected time period.

Search Conversion Rate

The percentage of searches that lead to an add-to-cart or purchase. Calculated as:

Search Conversion Rate = (Searches leading to purchase / Total searches) × 100

Average Results Per Query

The average number of products returned per search query. A very high number may indicate overly broad matching; a very low number may indicate missing products or overly strict search.

Zero-Result Rate

The percentage of searches that return no results. Target: under 5%.

A high zero-result rate indicates:

  • Missing products in your catalog
  • Missing synonyms (shoppers using terms you haven't mapped)
  • Product naming that doesn't match shopper vocabulary

Top Searches Report

Shows the most popular search queries ranked by frequency.

Columns:

  • Query text
  • Search count
  • Average results returned
  • Click-through rate
  • Conversion rate (if tracking enabled)

Use this to:

  • Verify your most popular products are ranking well for common queries
  • Identify trending products or categories
  • Inform your merchandising strategy (boost products for popular queries)

Zero-Result Searches Report

Shows search queries that returned no products.

Why this matters:

  • Missing synonyms — If shoppers search "hoodie" but your products use "sweatshirt," add a synonym
  • Product gaps — If many shoppers search for a product you don't carry, consider adding it
  • Typo patterns — While our search handles common typos, unusual misspellings may slip through

Actions you can take:

  1. Add synonyms for common alternate terms
  2. Update product titles/tags to match shopper vocabulary
  3. Configure "no results" fallback behavior to show related products

Filter Analytics

Track how shoppers use filters:

  • Most used filters — Which filters are selected most often
  • Filter-to-conversion rate — Which filters correlate with higher purchase rates
  • Underperforming filters — Filters that are rarely used (consider removing or repositioning)
  • Filter combinations — Common filter combinations (e.g., shoppers often filter by Color + Size together)

Time Range

All reports support custom time ranges:

  • Today
  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days (default)
  • Last 90 days
  • Custom date range

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained based on your plan:

PlanRetention
Starter90 days
Growth180 days
Enterprise365 days

Exporting Data

You can export analytics data as CSV:

  1. Go to the analytics report you want to export
  2. Set your desired time range
  3. Click Export CSV
  4. The file downloads to your computer

Available exports:

  • Top searches (with all metrics)
  • Zero-result searches
  • Filter usage summary
  • Daily search volume

Privacy

Analytics data is:

  • Aggregated — We track query patterns, not individual shoppers
  • Store-specific — Your analytics data is isolated to your store
  • Not shared — We never share individual store analytics with third parties
  • Deletable — Uninstalling the app deletes all your analytics data, typically within 48 hours of Shopify delivering the shop/redact privacy webhook. See Data Retention for the canonical deletion timeline and worst-case qualifier.
